The short version

What’s the Game? has no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or trackers of any kind. This page (whatsthegame.fun) collects exactly one thing, described below, and nothing else — no email signup, no mailing list.

If you tap “Add to Home Screen”

When the install button is offered or used, we send a beacon recording only that it happened and the date — a random, disposable id generated fresh each time, not tied to you, your device, or any other data we hold. It exists to answer one question — is this button worth the space it takes up — and nothing more granular than a daily count is ever produced from it.

If you subscribe to updates

Tapping the bell or “Subscribe to updates” asks your browser for permission to send notifications. If you allow it, your browser gives us an address for sending you a notification, and we store that address (and nothing about who you are) so we can let you know when something new launches. Turn it off with the same bell, or in your browser’s site settings, and it is deleted or simply stops working.

If you play more than one game

On whatsthegame.fun, when you finish a daily puzzle, your browser keeps a random number that means nothing about you, so we can count how many of the games a single browser finishes. That is how we decide whether to help people find the other games. We store no name, email or account with it, and clearing your site data removes it.

If you play a game on its own website and then tap “All games” or the next game, that game’s saved history (your scores and streaks, already kept on your own device) travels in the link to whatsthegame.fun so it is there when you arrive. It is carried in the part of the address after the “#”, which is never sent to our servers.

What we don’t do

No cookies for visitors. No IP addresses stored against anything you do here. No third-party scripts, fonts, or embeds that phone home — the fonts on this page are served from this domain, not Google's. Nothing here is sold or shared with anyone.

The five games this page links to — What’s the Number?, Word, Book, Area, and Angle — are separate sites on their own domains, each with its own privacy policy covering what that game itself stores (all of it kept on your own device; see each game’s own policy for specifics).

Hosting

This site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare's infrastructure may briefly log technical request data (such as IP address) for security and operational purposes, as standard for any site on the internet. That's Cloudflare's own infrastructure logging, separate from anything described above, and this site never reads or stores it.
